Acrylic, modelling paste, cheesecloth, gel medium and strings on canvas

Centrally emphasized, the irregular cheesecloth texture elucidates the very internal conflict that challenges me: the feeling of cultural detachment in a place that was once home.

Often dwelling on the what-ifs, the rhythmic effect of the strings portrays a sense of unknowing for the little girl who left home. Even the red-orange flesh colour has faint hints of muted green underneath its layer, performing as a subtle complement.

Introspectively, the sporadic use of different textures depicts a visual diary of my time growing up in a foreign land.
